POLICIES
(Terms & Conditions)
PAYMENT
Set up design/layout fee for any calligraphy project. $50.00 (US dollars) This includes the time it takes to prep a project, (eg; testing requested paper to insure ink is compatible with the surface, insuring ink doesn't bleed or feather, measuring margins, line spacing, sketching roughs, designing layouts,  etc.) Prep work is the same whether for one piece or hundreds of pieces.
We require a 50% (percent) reservation deposit fee before work can begin.
This fee reserves your place which is set aside for your project in the work calendar, is non refundable and will be deducted from the total amount.
Balance to be paid upon the completion of work on your project.
We accept all major credit cards via PayPal, an invoice will be sent via email summarizing  the details in writing.

IF YOU ARE SUPPLYING PAPER/STATIONERY/ENVELOPES:
Quoted price and turnaround time is contingent on artists approval and quality of paper, if it is to be supplied by the client (eg: will the paper accept the nib, ink, etc.). It is the clients responsibility if supplying paper,  to insure that it is sent to and received by the calligrapher before the project can begin. We also request the industry standard of an extra 15% of paper material and to ship contents in appropriate packing, so that it arrives in good workable condition. Please use a BOX for the paper, stationery, etc. to be calligraphed on. Stationery is simply not safe in an envelope as it can get bent or wet. We want your stationery to be safe. A box with good packing, can help to insure the safety of your stationery.
OOAK (One Of A Kind)  PROJECTS
If client is supplying a OOAK project and there is no additional sample or feasible way to test nib/ink/paint, etc. and/or if the surface area to be calligraphed/painted on does not accept/respond to nib/ink/paint, etc. Designs By Lorise, will not be held responsible. Any and all fees are Non-Refundable. Projects are strongly recommended to be tested first,  to insure ink/paint, etc. is compatible with the surface, insuring ink/paint, etc. doesn't bleed, feather, etc.

We honor and respect our clients privacy.
Discretion, confidentiality and trust are paramount to the services we provide.

RUSH ORDERS

Lorise normally stays booked 4-6 weeks in advance. We do NOT suggest rush orders, simply due to the fact that calligraphy and design is done by hand and is therefore timely.
If you need a rush order and have not booked the time, please contact us to see if it is possible to accommodate your request within the time requirements.
Note:  If it is possible to take on your project (within two weeks of your deadline), there will be a 40% additional charge for the rush order.

CANCELLATION/KILL FEE
If client cancels a project, there is a forfeiture of the Reservation Deposit. Client is also responsible for fees, regarding any work already completed which exceeds the deposit amount.

BOOKED PROJECTS
If a Project has been booked and the client is not ready at the scheduled time, we may be able to offer one of three options (depending on our schedule and availability);
1. rescheduling your project for another date
2. if the project becomes much closer to it's actual required "event date", incurring a Rush Fee,
3. cancelling the project, thereby the client forfeiting the Reservation fee.

REFUND POLICY
Due to nature of hand written and personalized items, we do not offer refunds on any custom  orders.  It is common for there to be variances in the spacing, size and style of letters. Production is never started on any project until we have received your Reservation Deposit Fee and the client has signed off on the proof.  It is the clients responsibility to insure that the personal spelling of  names, dates, days, message, verse, etc. are correct.  This is one of the reasons why it is so VERY IMPORTANT  to check, double check , even triple check  proofs, before signing off on them.
Once you have signed off (aka approved)  the proof,  telling us that it is okay to proceed, this tells us that you have viewed it, are pleased and that it is accurate. W
e are not responsible for  proofs signed off for approval, that were typed, misspelled, have an incorrect date, etc. by the client.  Correction requests that  involve the project being reproduced will be charged as a new project. In addition, the party paying the invoice will forfeit any and all payments for non compliance with the Designs by Lorise policy (eg; if the client does not provide paper sample(s) prior to the project beginning, etc.) Designs by Lorise is not held responsible for complications from materials, inclement on site weather, etc. Calligraphy is an art, with no two handwritten pieces being identical. All sales are final.
